We’ve heard it before in parenting classes.\u00a0 Not “I am so proud of you<\/em>” but rather, “You should be so proud of YOURSELF”.\u00a0 <\/em>That’s the way to do it, apparently.\u00a0 To encourage children to value their own achievements instead of seeking validation from others.\u00a0 I like it.\u00a0 If you’re not already subscribed to blogmeister sans pareil<\/em> Seth Godin<\/a>\u00a0then I recommend you sign up now.\u00a0 His recent post spoke about how validation is overrated.\u00a0 Don’t wait for the praise of others to see the merit in what you’ve done\/made\/achieved\/written\/sewn\/baked etc.\u00a0 See it yourself!\u00a0 This is good for adults and great for kids who can set the template at a young age.\u00a0 It breeds an independent mind and, if you’re doing it right, a good instinct for self-appraisal.\u00a0 I am starting now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
